Arnold North end redevelopment moves a step nearer
Gedling borough Council’s Cabinet has agreed on the preferred way forward for the masterplan for the North end of Arnold.
The site being considered is bounded by High street, Croft road, Front street and Cross street. The chosen options includes relocating ASDA store northwards next to the library and Leisure Centre, and allows the Health
Centre to expand, being rebuilt in its current location.
It
is recognised that the process of securing the land for the full redevelopment is complex and
will take time, but it is hoped to see some earlier movement on plans for a new Health Centre. It is anticipated that the Health Centre will expand onto
the adjacent Croft Road car park as well as taking up the space currently occupied by public toilets on physical activity, to reduce obesity and improve
Wood Street. This first phase of the Masterplan Overall health.
should see construction work starting within the next 18 months.Meanwhile, the Council will be considering alternative temporary accommodation options
for the Shopmobilty scheme before providing it with
a new permanent home and will also be considering
future public toilet provision.
