Police & Councillors in Joint surgeries
Joint beat surgeries will be piloted over the next
few months at
various locations across Gedling
Borough where local police officers and council
member(s) for that area will be on hand to offer
advice on issues that matter to residents locally.
Joint consideration will be given to assessing
how these trials progress and consider whether
they might be extended to other areas of the
Borough.
Chief Inspector Kim Molloy of Nottinghamshire
Police's South Nottinghamshire Division says:
'This is a joint partnership venture which will
help us improve how we engage with the community.
These surgeries are open to residents
to enable them to discuss not only policing
matters but also any local community issues,
such as Council services or anti-social behaviour,
that affect their neighbourhood.'
Dates and venues will be advertised in advance.
Be sure of your vote
Gedling Borough is urging
residents to return their completed Electoral Registration
form as soon as possible, in
order to secure their right to
vote in the forthcoming Borough Council Elections
on 3 May 2007.
All households in the Borough should have
received an Electoral Registration form during
August. Occupants are required by law to provide
information about who lives in the property
and who is eligible to vote, so that the Council
can publish a new, up to date Electoral Register
every year.
The form should include everyone resident at
the address, including lodgers and people who
are temporarily away either working, in hospital,
in student accommodation or on holiday. People
can register only for the address at which
they are resident. Registering for other services
or paying Council Tax does not register residents
to vote, so it is important that all households
complete the form.
