New Youth Project - hopes to open in June
The Lodge is an inter-agency One Stop Shop Project for young people, about to be launched in the building at the entrance to Arnot Hill park. A number of agencies and groups will be coming together to provide a range of services that can be accessed by young people.
The County Council's Youth Support Service will use the Lodge for Youth counselling the C-Card Scheme, for Detached Team contact, Area based Initiative work and the Gedling District Youth Assembly.
The Lodge should be an ideal base to promote Youth activities as a whole and agencies such as Health are expected to use this as a major Contact point for youth focused services.
Other expected users include the Monday Club, the crime and disorder team, school nursing, Connexions and the Youth Inclusion Support Programme Youngsters themselves are very Much intended to be involved in the design and running of the project.
Following the completion of work to prepare the Building for its new role, it is hoped to launch the project during June.

New Arnold Local History Group launches with presentation on "OLD ARNOLD"
April 24th saw the first public meeting session held by the new Arnold Local History Group. Costing just £1. People were able to enjoy a cup of tea or coffee, watch and listen to a presentation on Old Arnold by Eric Dove and swap memories with fellow audience members. The Group intends to hold future sessions with Speakers as well as group member meetings Where research ideas, problems and opportunities can be shared.
There seems to be a keen nucleus of people interested in a network that can help pursue historical interests share and catalogue information sources .if you are interested in joining such a group, contact the editorial team (below)or Enid Doona in the Library (9202247).
